These bracelets were known as “Sweetheart bracelets” as it was very popular for men leaving for war to give one to their “sweetheart. Very romantic! To come complete with its original box is amazing and makes it just prefect for Gift Giving!
There was a vast range of designs and styles of Sweetheart bracelets made and this is one cleary of Art Deco influence and presenting Fantastically which is a rarity! It was produced by The Pitman & Keeler Company who patented their bracelets on November 5, 1907 and was regarded as a leading manufacturer of late Victorian/early Edwardian expansion or adjustable bracelets from the early 1900’s. They continued as a market leader through the 1950’s. They called their style the “American Queen” and they are highly sought after expansion by collectors.
The heart shaped centerpiece features a beautiful engraved floral & foliate motif framing a cartouche at the bottom centre perfect for engraving with one's monogram.
The bracelet expands to be easily placed on the wrist. The S shaped links alternating between plain and a richly embossed design.
It has the silky smooth feel usually only associated with solid carat gold and expected of quality antique jewellery. It has a warm yellow gold hue.
