This Vintage expansion bracelet is just Awesome in its
design & styling. The square, eye-catching centerpiece is rare since most
are round or heart shaped and features a large and bright BRILLIANT BLUE synthetic paste stone bordered with a fabulous repousse design of
scrolling foliage at the edge.
The Pitman & Keeler Company began production
of these expansion bracelets in the early 1900s and continued as one of the
leading manufacturers of “sweetheart” or expansion bracelets through to the
1950s. Their version of the expansion bracelet was known as the “American
Queen” which was comparable in design and quality to the Carmen bracelet. These
are highly collectable bracelets.
Repousse or embossed detailing decorates every
second link alternating with plain & smooth. The links are attached, secure
and the expansion tight. The links open in a scissor-like action.
It has the silky smooth feel usually only associated
with solid carat gold and expected of quality antique jewellery with a warm yellow gold hue.
