The
First Victorian Revival period occurred during the thirties and was the era
during which the R.F. Simmons Company (est. 1873), created their Betsy Ross
line of gold-filled oval hinged bangle bracelets.
The design is magnificent
and incorporates an array of design elements including floral, foliate and
scrolling elements bordered by the shiny rim at the edge, top and bottom, all
on a finely stippled/patterned background.
The hinge is in perfect
working order. The tongue and box is in perfect working order holding closed
securely, even with pressure. A safety chain is in place for additional
security.
COLOUR It has the silky
smooth feel usually only associated with solid carat gold and expected of
quality antique jewellery. It has a warm, yellow hue so much nicer than
the pictures suggest.
